Radiation Therapist
Reno, Nevada
We are seeking a dedicated Radiation Therapist to administer prescribed therapeutic radiation doses to predetermined treatment areas for patients. This role involves performing localization procedures necessary for preparing patients for radiation treatments. Additionally, the Radiation Therapist will provide support, education, and teaching to cancer patients and their families, assist in onboarding new team members, and educate students.
Nature and Scope
The Radiation Therapist will:
Evaluate and prioritize tasks to provide optimal patient care based on physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety needs appropriate to the age of the patient served.
Administer radiation, perform localization, basic dosimetry, custom block fabrication, charting, and other related tasks.
Operate linear accelerators, simulators, electronic health records, record and verify systems, and other software programs within the department.
Demonstrate proficiency in body mechanics, fire safety, infection control, patient safety, and CPR annually.
Complete annual core competencies specific to department workflow and work towards the Core RT Competency and Development Ladder Skills within 3 months of completing Staff RT requirements.
This position involves direct patient care.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy Program. Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
Experience: No prior experience required.
License(s): Radiation Therapist License from ARRT. Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Radiation Control Program License for Radiation Therapy upon hire.
Certification(s): BLS Certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
Computer/Typing: Must possess or be able to obtain within 90 days the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
